Kym Riley is a registered Clinical Psychologist and Accredited EMDR practitioner with over 15 years experience. She works with adolescents and adults in Gisborne, Victoria and offers online zoom appointments.
Kym has a specific interest in
- assessing neurodivergence (ASD and ADHD) in adolescents and adults. She has a particular understanding of how neurodivergence is presented in females.
- providing psychological support, including EMDR, to neurodivergent individuals and/or chronic illness (such as ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, neurodivergent burnout, and related health conditions such as Hypermobility, POTS, and MCAS).
Kym also provides psychological support to people experiencing
- Trauma-related issues (e.g. acute stress, post traumatic stress, complex PTSD, attachment-based trauma)
- LGBTIQA+ related issues
- General Anxiety and depression

ASSESSING NEURODIVERGENCE
Kym offers formal ASD/ADHD and general mental health diagnostic assessments for children and adolescents (11 years + only) and adults.
The assessment process usually involves four appointments. There are numerous questionnaires to complete as part of the process. A report is included in the assessment process.

The current wait time for an initial formal assessment appointment is 4-6 weeks.

PSYCHOLOGICAL THERAPY
GENERAL REFERRALS
Kym offers general psychological therapy support for adolescents (aged 16 years and over only) and adults.
Kym is experienced in delivering a range of evidence-based psychological interventions including:
• Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)
• Cognitive Behavioural Therapy - including Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy• Mindfulness Interventions
•. Behavioural and parenting interventions
All of these interventions (including EMDR) can be delivered in person or online through zoom.
REFERRALS SPECIFIC TO AN ONLINE EMDR PROGRAM FOR INDIVIDUALS LIVING WITH ME/CFS OR LONG COVID
Kym provides specialised EMDR support for individuals living with ME/CFS or Long COVID. While research in this area is still emerging, early evidence and clinical experience suggest that EMDR can offer meaningful benefits for people managing these complex chronic conditions.This program is designed to help individuals navigate the stress, trauma, and emotional burden that often accompany chronic illness. This includes support for:- Past medical trauma, including difficult diagnostic journeys or invalidating healthcare experiences- Post‑Exertional Malaise (PEM) and its impact on daily functioning, identity, and wellbeing- The ongoing psychological strain of living with unpredictable symptoms, reduced capacity, and long‑term uncertaintyThe aim of the program is to strengthen emotional wellbeing all within a therapeutic approach that respects the unique physiology and pacing needs of ME/CFS and Long COVID.
Availability for therapy (updated August 2026)Kym is not currently accepting general referrals but is accepting referrals for individuals living with ME/CFS or LONG COVID.
Fees Referrals and Rebates
Therapy Fees A standard therapy 50 minute appointment full fee is $240. Concession fee is $205. Medicare Rebates with a GP MHCP are approximately $149.05, applied for ten sessions in a calendar year.
NDIS fees are set by the NDIS (https://www.ndis.gov.au/providers/pricing-and-payments/pricing/pricing-arrangements-and-price-limits).
Cancellation Policy If you cancel an appointment giving at least 24 hours notice - no cancellation fee.If you cancel an appointment less than 24 hours notice - 100% of the consultation fee. Referrals Kym accepts - private self-referrals - GP Mental Health Care Plan Referrals - GP Chronic Condition Referrals * Kym does not accept referrals for writing Court or Legal Reports or TAC. National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Kym can see clients who self-manage or plan-manage their NDIS plan. Private Health Insurance Private health insurance rebates may apply. Please check with your private health insurer to enquire about rebates for Psychology.
